RNLI OPEN 2008

This years RNLI open Match took place on Saturday 19th July, thirty five competitors signed on to fish the match, this included two ladies and four juniors. the competitors signed on from 4.00pm onwards then headed out to their chosen marks within in the boundary limit, which was the end of the prom to port Coombe. some competitors chose to fish the inner harbour, once again hoping to catch enough eels or flounders to take first place. The winner of the competition decided to fish the beach and this proved the correct decision as he landed a nice small eyed ray of 2 kg 110 g which along with six dogfish, that he also caught gave him the win with a total weight of 6 kg 365 g. The winner had also entered the super pool, this is the second year we have run the super pool, the winner received £105.

Once the fishing was finished at 10.00pm the competitors returned to the Salthouse for the weigh in and a well deserved cup of tea & coffee. After the prize giving a raffle took place so even if they had not won a fishing prize they had the chance of taking something home. We would like to thank all those who donated prizes for this event. And a big thank you to all the competitors who supported this event.
